    How to use Edit PDF

    Click and type in selectable text, rebuild pages whose source text cannot be safely rewritten, recognize a printed scan, or add practical markup.

    Three simple steps

    2. Click a detected text block and type, recognize printed text on a scanned page, or add images, dates, highlights, shapes, whiteout areas, and freehand marks.
    3. Resolve any text overflow, review every changed page, and download the edited copy.

    Editing capabilities

    • Supported page text is grouped into editable blocks and its source PDF command is replaced with searchable text.
    • When a source command cannot be safely rewritten, the affected page is rebuilt as an image and the replacement remains searchable.
    • Printed scans can use OCR language data to create editable searchable replacements; whiteout is still only a visual cover and is not secure redaction.

    Frequently asked questions

    Does Edit PDF remove the original text?

    For a native replacement, the selected source command is removed. For a rebuilt page, the original page content is replaced by a page image with new searchable text. Neither method is document-wide sanitization or secure redaction.

    Can I edit text in a scanned PDF?

    Yes. Recognize printed text on the current page, choose the matching language, and edit the resulting searchable block. Finishing rebuilds that page, so the selected source pixels are covered and the new text is searchable.

    What changes when a page is rebuilt?

    The page keeps its visible appearance as an image, but its original selectable text, vectors, links, annotations, and interactive fields are flattened or removed.

    Is whiteout secure redaction?

    No. Whiteout covers content visually but does not sanitize the underlying document.
